The Vicious circle

Faster and Faster. Will we always be the fastest nation on the planet?

The fact is that we are demanding more than supply can keep up with. Think about it. Who wants to bet on a losing horse? That is the path we will choose if we continue on the path we are on now -- consuming fossil fuels at an ever growing rate ... with no cap in site.

The world is already speckled with windmills, solar panels and renewable energy sources of the future -- these models are now being implemented in several countries throughout the world. Why is the USA such a laggard in the race to stay at the Top? This question begs attention; yet the level of domestic concern as seen in the average US citizen is barely piquing attention above the noise.

"Uranium provides 20% of our country's energy requirement". Is it not possible to up this provision, if only temporarily, to 40%? Perhaps, an increase in Uranium energy, for a finite amount of time, would provide a "bridge" between the antiquated fuels of the 20th Century and the renewable resources of the 21st Century. Agreed that Uranium is difficult to dispose. And this is why I propose a finite timescale to use a "nuclear energy solution" until the much needed (and currently seriously lacking) infrastructure of the future are in place thereby providing "renewable and clean energy solutions". This model would allow us to then scale back our dependence on nuclear fuels.

It appears that the lack of momentum is clearly due to the Giants in Industry: e.g. Pharma, Plastics, and much of our material world are rooted in petroleum products.
Examples: 1. Much of our current world is constructed of plastics;
2. Pharmaceutical drugs are a plenty; and 3. Heat, electricity, and most energy are of fossil origin. All three of these are the pillars of our once Rich and Most-Advanced nation: Synthetic Materials such as plastics, pharmaceutical drugs, and fossil fuel derived energy. These three pillars have made an entire generation inexplicably successful; and, in doing so, these drunkenly greedy pioneers have co-developed an iron will to go faster and faster.

So why would we expect a change? What advantage exists to change our course? To the large corporations, there is zero advantage. For the consumer and the health of the environment, the advantage is infinite. Consider the following truth as an illustration: New homes in California are still built today (2009) with Gas or Oil heating, and/or electric cooling units. Why is this? It is mostly because the cost to build homes with antiquated infrastructure is LOWER for the builder. Thus homes can be built at a lower cost thereby providing a greater margin of profit for the builder. However, the end of the story is: tomorrow the consumer is left with the EVER GROWING COSTS for his/her heating/cooling bills. It is amazing that it is not commonplace or even required to build new homes today with solar panels, and several-acre wind-farms for each new development! Today, we instead see homes being built with yesterday's components. Absurd!

How much is spent each year to fuel our nation's energy requirements? Billions and Billions and then some. Stop spending your cash on Oil, America -- and start buying infrastructure of the future! If today we decided instead to redirect our current energy's cash flow (which is now on focused on oil, plastics, and other petro products) toward Windmills, solar panels, and other futuristic infrastructure, then in 50 years from now we would be set. The mindset of powerful lobbyists -- those with strong connections to pharma, oil, plastics, etc -- need to be revolutionized.

The solution is to turn to sources of Renewable Energy. The following video is 90 minutes long; however, it portrays the current situation quite accurately: Earth, your HOME
